Paul
was kept very busy during the recent Inaugural activities in Washington.
Yamaha Corporate Artists Division asked him to tune for Josh Grobin
and Herbie Hancock at the Martin Luther King Library
on January 19th, and for the Live Television Broadcast of the Neighborhood
Ball held at the Washington Convention Center on January 20th.
That piano was used by Shakira, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and
Stevie Wonder.
The
Duke Ellington Jazz Festival provided music for the small dinner for family
and friends hosted by then President-Elect and Mrs. Obama
on Sunday, January 18th, and Paul was asked to tune the Blair
House
Mason &
Hamlin Model A piano! Really a very special evening, since Paul and the
band were invited to stay and enjoy dinner with the other guests!

This past weekend, Paul tuned for an appearance by saxophonist Kenny G
at The Twentieth and Grand Finale Best Buddies Ball, Honoring Her Highness
Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, at the residence of Sargent and
Eunice Kennedy Shriver in Potomac, Maryland.

For the second year in a row, Paul was honored to serve as the piano technician
for Washington, DC's annual Duke
Ellington Jazz Festival, tuning at venues like the Lincoln and Sylvan
Theaters, THEARC, and Cohen Auditorium at the Voice of America for such
world renowned pianists as McCoy Tyner and Geoffrey Keezer, as well as
for the many groups appearing at the Festival, incuding Nasar Abadey,
Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sharón
Clark, the
Duke Ellington Ochestra, La
Timbistica, Na'Rimba, Paquito D'Rivera, Christian McBride, and many others.

at the Reagan International Trade Building.

At
the end of June, Paul attended the 51st Annual Piano Technicians Guild
Convention and Technical Institute in Anaheim, CA. While there, he became
a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) Member of the Guild. Registered Piano
Technicians have passed a rigorous set of written, technical and tuning
examinations which test their knowledge of piano history, design, construction
and tuning theory as well as applied tuning, repair and regulation skills.

This
year
is a busy one! Paul has tuned at the US Department of State for an appearance
by jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, and at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for Patti
LaBelle's performance at the Lupus
Foundation of America's Fifth Annual Awards Gala.
In
early May, Paul toured the Mason & Hamlin piano factory in Haverhill,
Massachusetts along with several other PTG
technicians from the Washington, DC area.
At
the end of June, Paul will be attending the 51st Annual Piano Technicians
Guild Convention and Technical Institute in Anaheim, CA.

Paul recently returned from
the 50th Annual Convention of the Piano Technicians Guild in Kansas City,
MO, where, in addition to attending classes and presentations on the latest
in piano technology, he was a featured performer in four mini-concerts
on Bechstein, Bösendorfer, Fazioli and Sauter pianos of unique design.
